Choosing based on who you travel with

Families and mixed-age groups often gravitate toward skiing. Lessons are widely available, and children tend to progress quickly in a structured learning environment. Groups of friends or solo travellers sometimes prefer snowboarding’s playful, expressive style. Both sports are fully supported in major Alpine resorts such as Val Thorens, Chamonix, Tignes or La Plagne, where wide groomed runs and dedicated learning areas make starting out easier for everyone.
